When Vicki Taylor sent a couple of pictures of her "Gouldians on The Green Day Diet" this week to one of the Yahoo groups (Feb. 2011), I immediately emailed her asking if I could post the pictures here. With a nod, I did, and it made me think of a few other photos that have appeared on groups or sent to me directly. The commonness of seeing finches and canaries bred on the diet by different people appealed to me, so here we go with a new addition to the website. I will be asking around for more photos and since I don't know everyone using the diet, if you are using it and have some of your birds you'd like to show off, please send photos to me: gulfcoastfinches@yahoo.com
Don't be intimidated by some of the "professional photographers" in the group. A snapshot or two will be fine. We simply want to see healthy subjects with some good color. I know there are more than finches and canaries being fed the diet, so no telling what we eventually may have in the collection.
For people who are new to the diet, and are perhaps results-oriented, this broad picture of what the diet does to help each of us, should be enough incentive to make them consider a healthy diet of greens and egg food, knowing what to expect.

Sally is working hard to bring up numbers on the dwindling Strawberry finches. Here are some fledglings, out of the nest 5 days and eating on their own.
